Hong Kong airport lounge tops world’s best

3rd February 2011

The Wing airport lounge at Hong Kong International Airport has been chosen as the best in the world by guidebook publisher Frommers.

In a guide compiled for USA Today, Frommer’s picked the world’s top ten executive lounges, putting Cathay Pacific‘s 4,500 square meter facility in first place.

Reserved for Cathay’s first and business class passengers, the lounge offers individual bath and shower rooms with their own minibars.

The Wing airport lounge also offers a library, noodle bar/restaurant, three bars and “personal living spaces” equipped with a desk, soft chair and seat.

Virgin Atlantic‘s Upper Class Clubhouse at London Heathrow, which offers a small cinema screen, pool table, a roof garden and cocktail bar, took second place, while Malaysia Airlines’ Satellite Golden Lounge was named third.

According to the survey, the best lounge in North America belongs to Emirates, which operates a facility at JFK, although Continental was the only US airline deemed to be operating a top-standard lounge, at Houston’s George Bush Airport.

Lounges from Lufthansa (Munich), British Airways (Seattle), Porter Airlines (Toronto), Japan Airlines (Tokyo) and Oneworld (Los Angeles) also all made the list.
